The mood was festive at the Pine Ridge Job Corps on Friday as students and staff gathered to celebrate their annual holiday dinner and awards banquet. Following a delicious meal prepared by a group of students, the Center’s student band and choir entertained attendees with lively holiday tunes under the capable direction of Nancy Swift Bird.
Tammy Calamari, Center Director said, “This celebration is certainly one of our favorite events of the year as we bring everyone together to showcase student successes, as well as our dedicated staff. The student awards are especially heartwarming, to hear how many have overcome sometimes challenging circumstances to take advantage of our outstanding staff’s talents to prepare for a successful and productive future.”
Student award winners this year include Mufid H. Abusadr, Residential Award; Hser Nay Say, Education Award; Juan Arreola, Career Technical Training Award; and Robert M. Rodriguez won the prestigious Student of the Year Award.
“The Peer-to-Peer awards are a way of recognizing staff peers who contribute to the mission of our Agency,” said Calamari. “There were many nominations this year – which is a true testament of the type of individuals we have working and serving our students on Center. It is an honor to work with all of them,” she said.
Staff awards included Wendy Lehi, Positive Role Model Award; Eric Gremm, Motivation Award; Curt Landreth, Dedication Award; Carl Cousin, Professionalism Award and Chad Morsett, Teamwork Award.
