The Chadron girls improved to 4-2 on the season and became the owners of a three-game win streak Monday night with their 49-22 defeat of the Hot Springs Bison.

Although scoring across the three victories was led by senior Dana Dunbar, who had 34 total points, and sophomore Shea Bailey who had 33, depth scoring has been the key to victory for the Cardinals.

Ten girls put up points against Hot Springs on Monday, nine scored against Torrington on Saturday, and seven scored against Gordon-Rushville on Friday.

Both Dunbar and Bailey narrowly missed hitting double-digits in all three games, with Dunbar scoring nine against the Mustangs, and Bailey scoring nine against the Bison.

Juniors Peyton Underwood and Carstyn Hageman were the only other Cardinals to join double-digit club during the streak. Both girls put up 10 points, Underwood against Gordon-Rushville and Hageman against Torrington.

The three victories have come with impressive margins as the Cardinals outscored their opponents 155-101 during the three-game stretch.

Monday night, Hot Springs came out flying, quickly putting up four points, but Chadron didn’t allow the Bison to set the pace, and methodically took control of the game, limiting their opponent to just five points in the first half.

Gordon-Rushville’s Gracey Perez had an outstanding performance against the Cardinals on Friday, showing a soft touch and quick release while sinking six treys and scoring 22 points.
