The Chadron High football team will be seeking its third straight victory Friday evening when it visits Broken Bow. Kickoff is set for 5 o’clock mountain time.
The Cardinals have won their first two games over Alliance and Cozad by a 78-14 margin. A year ago, they were 0-2 when they hosted the Broken Bow Indians, but pulled out a 41-13 victory.
Both teams threw the ball well a year ago. Broken Bow quarterback Grayson Garey, then a sophomore, completed 15 of 27 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Chadron’s Coy Bila clicked on 16 of 29 for 298 yards and four TDs, three of them to Sam Rischling, who had seven catches for 101 yards.
Tailback Logan Tiensvold also had a breakout game against the Indians, rushing 20 times for 136 yards.
Despite having a dozen seniors on this year’s roster, the Indians haven’t gotten their offense in gear and are 0-2. Ord edged them 8-6 in the season-opener and Chase County won 13-0 last Friday night.
Cozad had downed the Chase County Longhorns 19-13 in those teams’ season-opener.
