In home games Friday night, the Crawford boys’ and girls’ basketball teams found themselves victorious in games with Cody-Kilgore.
The Rams’ boys dominated the previously 10-5 Cowboys right out of the gate, leading 24-5 after just the first quarter, and extending that lead all the way to 39-8 at the end of the first half. The team cruised to a 59-21 victory at the final buzzer.
Senior Aaron Alcorn led Crawford in scoring with 15 points. Fellow seniors Blaine Flack and Bryce Oetken also hit double digits and nearly matched Alcorn with 14 points each. Flack hit four of five free throws, had two three-pointers, and contributed six total rebounds in the game.
Oetken sank three of five from the line, hit one trey, and led the Rams with nine totals rebounds, three offensive and six defensive.
After falling short of Cody-Kilgore in the first half 20-17, the Crawford girls bounced back to the tune of 23 points in the final half to win the contest 40-35.
Sophomore Blake Dodd led the Rams’ girls in scoring with 13 points, including one trey. Defensively the team was led by junior Kelsey Tighe who had 10 defensive rebounds and another four on offense.
The win was just the third of the season for the Rams’ girls, but the second in their past three games.
The girls hoped to add to the win column Tuesday night, facing a Sioux County girls’ team who is 13-4 this season. Results of the game were not available by time of print.
Both the girls and boys will take to the road Thursday, making the short trip to Hay Springs to face the Hawks.
