Two local BHSU students earn degrees
SPEARFISH – Black Hills State University candidates for graduation were awarded master, bachelor, associate degrees during the University’s 173rd commencement ceremony this month. Nearly 430 students received their degrees.
Of the near 430 graduates whom received degrees, two were from Hot Springs, including: Miranda Cornay, BS, Psychology; and Kimberly Thompson, MS, Curriculum and Instruction.
LATI graduates four local students
WATERTOWN – The 50th Annual Lake Area Technical Institute graduation ceremony was held Friday, May 12, with 839 graduates receiving their diplomas.
The following Hot Springs students were presented their diplomas by Mike Cartney, President of Lake Area Tech: Jared T Harkless, Diesel Technology; Joshua N Simunek, Diesel Technology; Taran L Weaver, Energy Technology; and, Chance A Britain, Welding Technology.
Labor, McKown earn degrees from USF
SIOUX FALLS —The University of Sioux Falls awarded 481 total degrees on Sunday, May 21 at the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science.
The following students from Hot Springs, were recognized in the spring commencement ceremony: McCartney Labor, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Social Science; Trevor McKown, Master of Business Administration.
Berkley on Dean’s List at SDSU
BROOKINGS – Cole Berkley, , was recently named to the dean’s list for academic excellence during the spring 2017 semester at South Dakota State University. To earn dean’s list distinctions in SDSU’s colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Berkley is a 2015 graduate from Hot Springs High School and is part of the College of Agriculture & Biological Sciences at SDSU.
Students from 29 states and 25 foreign nations are on the list.
CSC announces Spring 2017 honors list
CHADRON – Chadron State College has announced the names of students who qualified for the institution’s Spring 2017 academic honors lists.
The President’s List requires a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Students on the Dean’s List earned at least a 3.5 GPA. Students must also be enrolled in 12 credit hours of coursework during the semester to qualify.
Students from Hot Springs on the lists include Kaylee Peck, Amy-Jo Sokol, Vanessa Yeoman and Shelby Hills.
Naasz on USD’s Spring 2017 Dean’s List
VERMILLION – The University of South Dakota announced its Academic Honors and Dean’s List to recognize 2,300 students for their high achievement during the Spring 2017 semester, which include Hot Springs’ Courtney S. Naasz.
Full-time, undergraduate students are named to the Dean’s List if they received a 3.5 GPA for courses they took in the Spring 2017 semester and had no incomplete or failing grades. For part-time students, those with fewer than 12 credit hours, the recognition is called Academic Honors
