Hickory Roots, a romantic suspense novel, was published late last year by Pringle resident, Dawn Haines. This is Haines' debut book.
Haines is an LPN at the VA Medical Center and has worked at Fall River Health Services in the past. The book took her over six years to complete, while she juggled inspiration with the rest of her life.
Her motivated message about pursuing her passion of writing mirrored the inspirational tone of her book, "Don't ever let your dreams go, don't let anything stop you."
The setting of Hickory Roots was inspired by Haines' grandmother's Wisconsin farm. The fictional story also incorporates her grandmother into the plot.
Haines is originally from Wisconsin and still has family there. She moved to western South Dakota four and a half years ago. She is planning on moving to Sioux Falls soon to shorten the distance between family.
There are potentially more stories on the way. Haines mentioned she had a few other ideas for novels in her head. Hickory Roots, is available in paperback and digital on Amazon.
