Minnekahta Quilt Guild Donation

Minnekahta Quilt Guild donated a $1,000 to the State Veteran’s Home. The money donated by the Guild is part of the proceeds from annual Christmas in the Hills raffle quilt tickets. The State Home will use the money for resident’s needs. The Guild thanks all those who supported the raffle quilt sales.

Colton Gehman Named to LeTourneau University Fall Dean's List

LONGVIEW, Texas (January 4, 2018) - Colton Gehman of Hot Springs was named to the Fall 2017 Dean's List at LeTourneau University. The Dean's List recognizes students who have achieved a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.99 for the semester.

Gehman is a Sophomore majoring in Aeronautical Science.

LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford said being named to the Dean's List is a significant academic achievement and honor.

The Mammoth Site Receives $1,000.00 in Grant Award

The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, SD Inc. would like to give a “Mammoth” Thank You to the Shopko Foundation for the recent grant award of $1,000.00. The grant will be used to help update and create new exhibits at The Mammoth Site.

According to Presston Gabel, Mammoth Site Business Manager, “Through the continued support of the Shopko Foundation and other like-minded Foundations, The Mammoth Site has been able to continue to grow and stay at the forefront of Science Education and Research as it relates to The Mammoth Site and the Black Hills as a whole during the last Ice Age.”

Healthy Heart week

In support of the South Dakota Cardiovascular Collaborative Strategic Plan 2017-2021, the Fall River Health Services and local businesses celebrated Healthy Heart Awareness with a week packed with activities from Feb. 12-16. Free health screenings were provided for blood pressure, blood glucose levels, heart rhythms, stress reduction and various educational materials. The purpose of the program is to provide education to prevent heart disease and empower individuals and the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle behavior such as eating a healthy diet, increased physical activity and socialization and most of all to consult a primary care provider in preventing progression of heart disease.

Thanks goes to the following businesses for their support and prize donations: Bodies in Motion, Chamber of Commerce, China Buffet, Daily Bread, Dairy Queen, Dale's Restaurant, Evan's Plunge, Health 4 Life, Lynn's Dakota Mart, Pizza Hut, Sonny's, and Winner Circle, the FRHS Lab Dept., Sunflower SLP therapy services, 1008 Solutions and SH Community Recreation Initiative. The Sandstone Singers provided the entertainment and Lions Club provided food for the final event.
