To the Editor:
Friends and Neighbors, in this week’s papers our 2018 Provisional Budget for Fall River County is in the legal section. The budget contains proposed budget expenditures for each department, and revenues to fund the budget. This represents a consensus of our Commissioners on what needs to be spent by the County.
We realize that not all of the Commissioners agree with each department’s expenditures, but we have to reach a consensus to keep Fall River county functioning. We must provide the services that are required, that we all depend upon.
Because we are all elected officials, we do the best job we can to meet the needs of ALL of our constituents.
Please take the time to review the proposed budget. If you have strong feelings about any item, please don’t hesitate to call your County Commissioner or Auditor, or attend the Provisional Budget hearing at 11a.m. on Sept. 5, at our commission meeting.
It is an honor to be able to serve our people and to administer the best utilization of our tax money. Since I have been a Commissioner for the past 11 years, our mill levy has gone down nearly every year. I want to thank you in advance for your consideration and input into our County budget.
Joe Falkenburg, Chairman,
Fall River County Commission
