Hot Springs hosted 18 teams at their annual Holiday Extravaganza this past weekend, placing 10 wrestlers and finishing second overall.
Philip took first-place honors at the Bison’s home tournament, besting Hot Springs’ team score of 194 by 20.5 points.
The Bison were led by first-place finishers Kody Hagen and Garrett Heil, who continue to have strong seasons.
Hagen’s victory in the 145-pound weight class came after a pin of Custer’s Eli Mines. It was his fourth pin of the meet.
Heil, who was 13-3 at the meet, defeated Rapid City Stevens’ Caleb Brink by a 3-1 decision for first-place at 182-pounds.
Not to be overshadowed were Marcus Harkless who placed second at 195-pounds, Teejay Atwood who placed third at 170-pounds, Wyatt Pulscher who placed third at 15-pounds, and Alex Phelps who placed third at 138-pounds.
Other placers were Chad Kelso, Caleb Maciejewski, Keaton Bissonnette, and Pierce Sword.
Earlier last week Hot Springs dominated at the St. Thomas More Quad, defeating Douglas 54-25, Newell 30-12, and St. Thomas More 60-15.
