Twenty-six schools will once again attend the Lyman Invitational Mid-Dakota Monster wrestling meet, this Friday and Saturday.
This year marks Lyman’s 42nd year hosting the Mid-Dakota Monster, one of the largest tournaments of the season, outside of regional and state meets.
It will be the first time the Bison wrestlers have hit the mats since Dec. 16, at Hot Springs’ own Holiday Extravaganza, where they placed second overall in team scoring and placed 10 individual wrestlers.
Last year Hot Springs placed eight wrestlers at the Lyman meet including then seniors Brice Harkless who placed second at 152, Trey Nactigall who placed second at 170, and Sosa Arneson who placed third at 285.
Marcus Harkless, Garrett Heil, Chad Kelso, and Wyatt Pulscher are current Bison wrestlers who placed at last year’s event. Harkless finished seventh place at 160, Heil seventh place at 182, Kelso eight place at 182, and Pulscher who finished eight at 138.
The tournament will likely be some of the toughest competition yet for the Bison wrestlers.
