The Hot Springs Star is pleased to announce Isaac Zarecki as its next editor. Zarecki will start in his new position Tuesday.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Zarecki is relocating to Hot Springs from Wisconsin and says he is looking forward to making the area home.
The city has several unique attractions, such as Evans Plunge and the VA, that the community can and should be proud of, he says, and the region offers the outdoor-lover in him ample opportunities to run, hunt and fish.
“I’m looking forward to getting involved in the community,” Zarecki says. He’s familiar with the greater Black Hills region as well, due to two trips to the area during his childhood, one of which took him to Hot Springs for a visit to the famous Mammoth Site.
He has a degree in life science communication, a field he chose after studying science and realizing he didn’t want to work in a laboratory. The communications field requires a broad knowledge base, a plus for someone like Zarecki who enjoys learning about new topics.
“A paper like the Hot Springs Star has the potential to generate pride for its residents, as well as keeping them informed. I’m excited to start.”
Zarecki spent most of the last year writing for Backcountry Hunters & Anglers and says taking the lead at the Hot Springs Star will provide him with a new challenge and more opportunities to continue developing his skills as a journalist.
