NEWELL | A 10-year-old boy who was riding his bike was struck by a car Friday in downtown Newell.

The driver of vehicle was Kathy Lamphere, wife of Butte County Sheriff Fred Lamphere. As a result, the South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Spearfish Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released. Officials say the boy was bruised but had no broken bones.
