STURGIS | The Meade County Sheriff's Office in western South Dakota says four teenagers are lucky to be alive after a vehicle pursuit that ended with a rollover.

The chase Thursday morning began when the teens allegedly stole beer from a Sturgis convenience store. Authorities say the chase involved six officers, covered about a dozen miles and reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. It ended when the teens' vehicle rolled on an Interstate 90 off-ramp.

The four teens suffered injuries that authorities say are not life-threatening. They were taken to a Rapid City hospital. Charges are pending.

are you dumb or what? what if the vehicle wasn't there's then you wouldn't be able to find them. second the kids shouldn't have stole in the first place. third if the cops never chased them they would have gotten away and that's not ok. fourth these cops did there job just fine its not even close to the cops fault for the accident . the kids who obviously can't drive, its there fault 100%.

liscence plate does no good at all. by the time they get to court there is too much reasonable doubt to convict them. they chose to run, the chose the speed any injuries to themselves are no fault but thier own. not taking personal responsibility is what brought our once great nation to its current pathetic state.. I say good job for by the police and not only should they get the max sentence but if they are under age thier parents shoud be held responsible as well.

Why would the authorities chase anyone at 100MPH. That is ludicrous!! They certainly have the license plate number and someone in the store could Identify them. There must be safer ways to handle this situation?. I would think these officers would be reprimanded!!!!
