An intoxicated woman disrupted traffic at a busy Rapid City intersection Thursday afternoon when she passed out behind the wheel at a traffic light, according to police.

Kayla Tenfingers, 26, of Rapid City, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and having an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle after Rapid City police found her asleep in her car at the corner of Omaha and Cambell streets around 12:45 p.m.

A photo of the incident, shared by Police Chief Karl Jegeris on Twitter, showed an open can of Bud Light in the car’s center console.

Police responded following a call from a member of the public, who also removed the car keys from the ignition after recognizing the driver “was in no condition to drive,” said police spokesman Brendyn Medina.
