A man who was shot in the leg on Thursday night isn't interested in pressing charges, according to local police.
The Rapid City Police Department said in a release that officers responded at 11:15 p.m. Thursday to 120 Surfwood Drive, part of the Knollwood Heights Apartments complex in northern Rapid City, for a report of a gunshot wound.
According to the release, the wounded man was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His name was not released.
Police said the man reportedly approached a group of people who were arguing, then one of the people, whose identities aren't known, shot him in the leg.
At the scene, police also were confronted by another man, Steven Guevara, 28, of Box Elder, who yelled and "took a fighting stance against responding officers," according to the release. Police say Guevara refused to cooperate and was arrested on charges of obstruction and disorderly conduct.
Even though the man who was shot doesn't want to press charges, police said they are continuing to investigate.
