Police are searching for a man in his early 20s who robbed a Rapid City casino Tuesday while wearing a clown mask and holding a hammer. 

Rapid City police are searching for a man who they say robbed the Rushmore Casino on Mount Rushmore Road Tuesday night while carrying a hammer and wearing a clown mask.

Around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to 1808 Mount Rushmore Road for a panic alarm. An employee of the casino told police that a man entered the business carrying a hammer and demanded money. The clerk complied and the man left with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a news release.

Witnesses described the man as tall, skinny, in his late teens to early 20s, and wearing a baggy black hooded sweatshirt, black work gloves and clown mask. 

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call Detective Ryan Gebhard at 394-4134. An anonymous tip can be sent by texting ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
