A Spearfish man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor using the internet.
Nicholaus Tripp, 29, earlier admitted posting an online ad that sought minors for sexual activity. A law enforcement agent, posing as a mother of two girls, offered her 13- and 15-year-old daughters in exchange for money. Tripp refused to pay but said he would buy one of the girls a phone, another girl a gift card and the mother credit for her phone. He was arrested in December 2016.
At his Feb. 9 sentencing at the Rapid City federal courthouse, Tripp was ordered also to undergo 10 years of supervised release once he gets out of prison.
