A Wyoming man was arrested in Rapid City on drug and traffic charges early Friday morning after leading police on a car chase near downtown.
Robby Turner, 43, of Mills, Wyo., is detained at the Pennington County Jail on charges that include ingestion of a controlled substance and eluding law enforcement.
Police saw Turner driving in the area of West Main Street and Mountain View Road without a headlight around 12:50 a.m. and tried to stop his car, the Rapid City Police Department said in a release. The car didn’t stop and headed downtown along St. Joseph Street, so a patrol car forced it to a halt using a special vehicular maneuver.
Officers said Turner showed signs of meth use, and a search of his car turned up some white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for meth. A field test to identify drunken drivers showed also that Turner was too impaired to drive, police said.
