A 20-year-old man was taken to a mental health center Wednesday night after posting on Facebook that he intended to kill people.

After being notified about the Facebook posting, police were notified and later took the unidentified man to Rapid City’s Crisis Care Center after he was taken into custody at the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City.

Police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel said police immediately notified Rushmore Mall security. They located and kept an eye on the man before officers arrived.

Heupel said police didn’t find any weapons on the man, who said he didn’t actually mean to hurt anyone. No charges have been filed, she said.
