Lloyd Alan Brown
SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Lloyd Alan Brown, 59, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Lloyd was born May 25, 1950, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Violet Marie (Layton) and James W. Brown. He married Kathy (Stender) Brown on April 6, 1968, in Edgemont, S.D. He lived in Pringle, S.D., for 14 years, in Edgemont for 14 years, and then in Sheridan for 31 years.
Lloyd worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a Conductor for nine years and an Engineer for 23 years.
Lloyd loved his family and grandchildren. He loved the Black Hills, and Big Horn Mountains, loved to hunt and fish, and ride his motorcycle and four-wheelers. He enjoyed spending time with friends, the more the merrier, and having fish fries and get-togethers. He enjoyed cutting wood and sitting by the campfires.
He belonged to the B.L.E., Elks, American Legion, and the Big Horn Mountain Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy, and daughters, Wendi Brown, Kristi (Troy) Olson and Kelli Brown, all of Sheridan; four grandchildren, Tazmyn Olson, Triven Olson, Dekken Mayer and Tori Launer; his brother, Cleve (Cynthia) Brown, and his sister, Sharon Onkka, both of Sheridan.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the Kane Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating.
Memorials in memory of Lloyd may be made to the donor’s choice.
Ronald Huckins
UPTON, Wyo. — Ronald Huckins, 69, Upton, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Crook County Memorial Hospital in Sundance.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Huckins, Upton; daughter, Rhonda Gordon, Newcastle; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Maxine Huckins, Sturgis, S.D.; and a brother, Alvin Huckins, Upton.
Arrangements are pending with Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
Lloyd Ken Parvin
WINNER — Lloyd Ken Parvin, 66, Winner, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Winner Regional Healthcare Center.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST Sunday, Nov. 22, at Mason Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the First Christian Church. Burial will be at Winner Cemetery.

Carol A. ‘Besty’ Simmons
NEWCASTLE, Wyo. — Carol A. “Besty” Simmons died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a short illness.
Carol Anne Snyder was born Feb. 28, 1936, to Seymour E Snyder Jr. and Anna Priscilla (Wing) Synder at Newcastle.
In high school Carol was a part of FHA, Pep Club, Annual Staff and very active in 4-H, graduating in 1954. Carol moved to Mandan, N.D., with her family and attended BJC for one year. On Oct. 23, 1956, she married Donald Simmons. To that union Lee Arnold and Dale Andrew were born. They lived at the Simmons Ranch by Clareton.
Carol left the ranch and attended Vo-tech school in Watertown. She then moved back to Newcastle, where she worked in food service at the hospital.
Carol was active in the Baptist Church and loved working with the children at bible school. She was a people person and enjoyed caring for animals.
Many people will remember Carol for her homemade bread and baked goods. Baking was one of her joys.
Survivors include her two sons, Lee and Dale Simmons, both of Newcastle; one granddaughter, Lakeisha Kay (Simmons) and her husband Dennis Diaz, Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, N.C. (she is a lance corporal in the USMC); her sister, Nancy Cadwell, Edgemont, S.D.; her brother, Stephen Keith (Jane) Snyder, Custer, S.D.; cousins Elisabeth (Richard) Rice, Havre, Mont., and Susan (Spence) Vannerman, Lincoln, Neb.,; as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends who shared similar interests, fun times and meals together. The family would like to thank all who were there for Carol.
Preceding Carol in death were her two brothers, Richard “Dick” and Rod; her parents, Seymour and Anna Snyder; brother-in-law, Curtis Cadwell; and Aunt Lucille Bond.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Worden Chapel.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial may be directed to Cambria Community Church and Weston County Manor.
Robert R. Slocum
RAPID CITY — Robert R. Slocum, 89, Rapid City, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Hospice House in Rapid City.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Slocum; two sons, Edward Slocum, Eagle Butte, and Robert Slocum, Rapid City; a daughter, Rhonda Rylance, Rapid City; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home.
