Suddenly, and sadly, the 2017 Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo Rapid City are in their final stages. How fast time flies when you're having fun.
But in many ways, show organizers have saved the best for last. (Sunday is the final day of the show, but things will be winding down that day.)
Events kick off early today with the Jackpot Team Roping event at Kjerstad Event Center at the Central States Fairgrounds at 8 a.m., with the Pioneer Awards Breakfast in the Fine Arts Building at the fairgrounds at 8:30 a.m.
The Hay Camp Wood Carvers host a demonstration all day at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, and Meet the Authors discussions are planned for 11 a.m., and at 1, 3, 5 and 6 p.m. in the theater lobby.
The rodeo action is hot all day long, too, with Rodeo Rapid City hosting PRCA rodeos at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Barnett Arena at the civic center. (Many champions are crowned in the final rodeo tonight.)
But there's more, as the fairgrounds staff hosts the annual Boots and Beer Festival in the Kjerstad center at 7 p.m. Beer tastings, food and live music will take revelers well into the night.
