Vince and Angela Ortega stopped their walking tour of Sturgis’ Main Street for a quick selfie.
Main Street, already pretty much awash with bikers on Saturday, is the place to see and be seen during the 77th rally, but for Vince and Angela, it’s the ride and the people that make Sturgis special.
“We like the Black Hills. We like the riding up here,” Vince said.
“It’s very friendly. People are very nice. We love it,” Angela added. “The people are amazing.”
The couple call Colorado home, but they have made the trek to the Sturgis motorcycle every third year or so for more than a decade. Their ride, a 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King, is showing some age but is still dependable.
“It’s getting a little older, but it still looks good and still runs good,” Vince said.
They also attend bike rallies in Cripple Creek, Colo., and in Red River, N.M. Sturgis is their furthest venture from home, but that may change. “We’d like to maybe do Daytona someday,” Vince said.
Sturgis is a must-see event, as far as they are concerned. “If you ride a motorcycle, you have to experience it one time,” Vince said.
"Once in your life," Angela chipped in.
