A Rapid City man charged with child-sex crimes in U.S. District Court pleaded guilty Friday to enticement of a minor using the internet.
As part of a plea agreement, Shane Douglass Davison, 37, admitted paying money for nude photos of minors and to view girls in the Philippines engaging in sexual activity in 2015, according to court documents. Homeland Security Investigations and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children investigated the incidents after Xoom.com, a money-transfer service, informed Yahoo! that a number of Yahoo! accounts, including Davison's, were trading in child exploitation material.
"Davison admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong, but felt like he was supporting the adult female in the Philippines who was putting on the show with the children," according to a signed statement he submitted in court.
Davison's enticement charge carries a penalty of 10 years to life in prison. He was originally charged with two other offenses: sexual exploitation of a minor and receipt of child pornography. He is detained at the Pennington County Jail while awaiting sentencing.
