SIOUX FALLS | The South Dakota Rock and Roll Music Association is looking for people who have impacted the state's music scene during the past 50 years.

The association is accepting nominees for induction into the 2014 Hall of Fame as well as a lifetime achievement award. Nominees can include bands, musicians, ballrooms, DJs or radio stations.

Chairman Don Fritz says the inductions provide a fun way to honor contributions to the music scene in South Dakota. He says the state is full of talent.

The deadline for nominations is Aug. 23, and nominations for consideration should include detailed bios and contact information. Samples of music, photos, newspaper articles, posters and other information are encouraged.

The induction ceremony is planned for mid-April.

I hereby nominate the Jolly Llamas (Rapid City, SD). For the last five years, they have spread the joy of music across the hills of Western SD and Eastern WY; their annual fundraiser, the Concert for Cornerstone, has raised thousands of dollars for the Cornerstone Rescue Mission; and they have been a driving force in the success of Downtown Summer Nights... also, they don't use steroids.
