Recent rains have not eliminated the potential for wildfires in the Black Hills area, the Northern Great Plains Interagency said late Sunday night.
Burn bans and restrictions are still in place for much of South Dakota.
Five new lightning-caused fires started across Nebraska Sunday.
The fires in South Dakota over the weekend were the Whitetail and Wharf fires. Black Hills Forest Service engines and hand crews responded to both fires as well as state engines, volunteer fire departments and one helicopter.
The Whitetail fire burned the largest area at two acres approximately six miles south of Hulett, Wyo. before being contained. The Wharf fire was contained at one-tenth of an acre.
No structures were at risk in either fire.
