A Rapid City man who pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery last month was sentenced this morning to serve 77 more days in the Pennington County Jail.

Travis Sipes, 20, was arrested in February on charges that he posed as a law enforcement officer in order to rob a woman of her prescription medication. He pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery April 14.

Seventh Circuit Judge A.P. Fuller sentenced Sipes to 180 days in the Pennington County Jail, and 10 years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary. The penitentiary time will be suspended if Sipes meets the requirements of his sentence.

Sipes has been given credit for the 103 days he has already served in the Pennington County Jail. He was also sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary, which will be suspended as long as he meets the conditions imposed by the court.

He was originally charged with second-degree robbery, gaining a controlled substance by fraud, grand theft and impersonation of a police officer.
