HOT SPRINGS - Morgan Peck of Sioux Falls, Miss USD, was crowned Miss South Dakota on Saturday night.
First runner-up is Miss Sioux Empire Fair, Alexis LeVan of Sioux Falls.
Second runner-up is Miss Eastern Plains, Aja Kessler of Rapid City.
Third runner-up is Miss SDSU, Rose Heeb of Midland.
Fourth runner-up is Miss Northern State University, Paige Paulson of Clark. She also was given the award for Miss Congeniality.
Miss State Fair Anna Simpson of Rapid City and Miss Hot Springs Emily Anne Miller of Irene were also in the top seven finalists. Miss Rapid City, Lorena Reichert, won the award for most talented non-finalist. Reichert and Miss Vermillion, Rachel Miller, tied for the non-finalist interview award.
Winning the preliminary talent award on the first night of competition on Thursday was Miss SDSU Rose Heeb, with Miss NSU Paige Paulson of Clark winning the talent award on Friday. Miss Hot Springs Emily Anne Miller won the preliminary swimsuit award Thursday night, and Miss Rushmore Kelly Wismer of Britton taking the swimsuit title Friday night.
Jenna Smeenk of Newell, Miss East Central, won the $1,000 Miss America Community Service Award. She also won the Miss South Dakota Community Service Award. Emily Anne Miller won the $1,000 Miss America Academic Scholarship.
Morgan Peck will represent South Dakota at the Miss America pageant in January in Las Vegas.
