Two Wisconsin residents died in a crash early Sunday morning near Kennebec.
At about 1:55 a.m. Sunday, a 2006 Ford F-250 driven by Galen Brainerd, 58, of Bruce, Wis., was traveling west on I-90 near the Kennebec exit, according to a news release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol. Brainerd lost control of his vehicle as he crossed an ice-covered bridge. The pickup entered the median and rolled. Three of the four occupants in the pickup were ejected.
Two of the passengers ejected, Benjamin Brainerd, 20, and Kryschelle Manuel, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither one was wearing a seatbelt. Galen Brainerd was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and sustained non-life threatning injuries. The third passenger, Terra Turner, 23, of Casper Wyo., was wearing a seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is not a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
