ALLEN - A one-vehicle rollover Monday south of Allen killed an 8-month-old infant.
The baby was identified as Bryer Martinez and three other family members were injured in the accident, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident happened about 9 p.m. on the Allen Road 4 miles north of the intersection with U.S. Highway 18.
Driver Laretha Loray Brown Bull, 40, of Kyle was driving with her three children, ages eight, two and eight months, in a southbound pickup truck. The vehicle hit several ruts in the roadway, causing Brown Bull to lose control of the vehicle. It rolled 1-1/2 times, coming to a rest upside down in the ditch.
Brown Bull and the baby were ejected from the vehicle and trapped underneath.
Bryer Martinez died at the scene. Brown Bull was flown by air ambulance to Rapid City Regional Hospital where she was reported in good condition Wednesday.
The other two children were taken by ground transportation to Rapid City Regional Hospital.
