A deer accident stranded Sen. Tim Johnson, his wife and a staffer near Murdo for a time, but nobody was injured in the collision.
Johnson staff member Chris Blair was behind the wheel Tuesday evening when three bucks jumped from a ravine onto the road. The car missed the first two but hit the third, and the vehicle could no longer be driven.
Johnson's spokeswoman says the Jones County deputy sheriff went to the scene until someone picked up the senator, his wife, Barbara, and Blair, who all waited along the road.
Johnson suffered bleeding in his brain in December 2006 and is running for re-election against challenger state Republican Rep. Joel Dykstra.
