Butte County updates list of roads closed

Flood washes away Beet Road Bridge

Flood waters claimed the Beet Road Bridge and possibly others in Butte County on Friday.

Just before midnight Friday, the Butte County emergency flood operations center updated the list of roads and bridges closed by "fast, high water flowing over them along with erosion" after four days of rain.

The closure advisory said "in some areas, bridges are either under water or completely washed away." Only the Beet Road Bridge was listed as "missing."

A county law enforcement dispatcher said emergency response crews were again working throughout the evening. Officials were expected to meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 7, for condition updates and to assess changes to area travel restrictions.

As of 11:53 p.m. Friday, the following Belle Fourche/Butte County roads and bridges were closed to travel:

* Roads closed: Dacar Street, 4th/Edmunds, 6th/Edmunds, 7th Avenue-Weyer Park, 8th/Lawrence, 10th Avenue Viaduct, Summit/Stanley EB, East Ziebach, 123rd Street, 188th Street; Adams Road, Ace Road, Arpan Road, Brooker Road, Crow Creek Road, Einfelt Road, Eichler Road, Erk Road, Gabert Road, Hanson Road, Kessel Road, KLT Road, Old Highway 85, Rathburn Road-north of Highway 212, Robinson Road, River Loop-east and west of Highway 79, Sonoma Road, Twilight Road, Wetz Road/Bismarck Bridge and Winkler Road.

* Bridges closed: Arpan Road Bridge, Beet Road Bridge (missing), Belle Fourche River Bridge/Fruitdale, Bismarck Road Bridge, Brooker Road Bridge, Creek Road Bridge, Dilinger Road Bridge, Eichler Road Bridge, Gaver Road Bridge, Horse Creek Bridge, Lewis Road Bridge, Mail Road Bridge, Newell-Orman Bridge, Old Highway 85 Bridge, Old Highway 212 Bridge, Riley Road Bridge, Stonelake Bridge, Twilight Road Bridge, Vale Cut Bridge, Vikken Road Bridge and Wood Road Bridge.
