RAPID CITY - Bond was set Friday at $1 million for the Rapid City woman charged with stabbing a man to death.

Chari Miranda, 20, was arrested Thursday when police arrived at a house on the 2500 block of Elm Avenue and found 24-year-old Richard Standing Bear stabbed to death.

Miranda and a weapon believed to be the cause of death were found in another room of the house.

She is charged with second-degree murder and faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison if she is found guilty.

Miranda applied for a court-appointed attorney Friday at a hearing before 7th Circuit Magistrate Judge William Severns.

She remains in custody at Pennington County Jail.
