Six Black Hills mountain lions have been shot since the season opened Jan. 1.

On Thursday, the first male - three years old, 145 pounds - was reported killed in the Northern Hills, according to the state Game, Fish & Parks Department.

The restricted season will end when 35 lions total or 15 females are killed. Otherwise, the season will run through March 31.
