GILLETTE, Wyo. - Three rabid skunks already have been confirmed in Campbell County so far this year.

Ken Mills, a University of Wyoming veterinary professor, says Campbell County is the only Wyoming county with confirmed rabies cases this year.

Mills says Campbell County has consistent numbers of rabies cases from year to year. Last year, those cases included a horse that tested positive for the virus.

Also last year, a rabid skunk bit a Gillette man while he was preparing to mow his lawn. The man had to receive a series of rabies shots.
