RAPID CITY - A Rapid City woman was injured Thursday after being struck by a vehicle that was pulling onto West Main Street from a McDonald's parking lot, according to Rapid City Police.

Sgt. Brad Booth said that 67-year-old Bernice Gifford was walking across the sidewalk in front of McDonald's about 12:35 p.m. when 38-year old Rapid City resident Heather Leon, driving a Jeep Liberty, struck her.

Booth said Leon was making a right turn out of the parking lot and did not see Gifford, who is visually impaired.

Leon was issued a warning ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Gifford was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where she remains in "undetermined" condition, according to hospital officials.
