RAPID CITY - Authorities said Tuesday that autopsy results have determined that the man found dead in a Rapid City alley in early August died of a cocaine overdose.
Dennis Russell Janis, 33, of Rapid City was found dead Aug. 5 in the alley of the 900 block of Dilger Avenue.
Lt. Marty Graves of the Pennington County Sheriff's Office said the death was originally investigated as a suspicious death and possible homicide because of where the body was found and the age of the man involved.
The case is no longer under investigation following the autopsy.
He said investigators rely on autopsy results before final conclusions are made.
"We found nothing else to indicate any foul play," Graves said.
