The South Dakota Department of Corrections says authorities are searching for an inmate who apparently escaped from Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield.

On Monday afternoon, prison staff members did an emergency count to see if any inmates were unaccounted for after a white 5-ton pumper truck from a prison shop was driven through two gates.

Authorities say 21-year-old Jesse Oliver, serving a four-year sentence for second-degree burglary out of Minnehaha County, is missing.

He is described as white, about 6-feet, 1-inch tall and 160 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
