Three South Dakota men and one from Oregon have received federal prison terms for filing false income tax returns.
Kurt, Kent and James Bowers, all of Pierre, and Jon Bowers of Junction City, Ore., earlier admitted underreporting their incomes.
Prosecutors say the four concealed thousands of dollars from the Internal Revenue Service by using management companies and trusts to reduce the amounts of taxes they owed.
Kurt Bowers was given a three-year prison term and $89,000 fine; Kent, James and Jon Bowers got one year in prison; Kent Bowers was fined $50,000; James was fined $40,000, and Jon Bowers was fined $30,000.
