A Mission man pleaded not guilty to beating up a woman and holding her against her will.
David Blue Thunder was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pierre on charges of kidnapping and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
The maximum punishment if he's convicted is life in prison.
According to the indictment, the attack happened July 19 on Rosebud Indian Reservation.
Blue Thunder was released on bond.
