FAULKTON - A Highmore man charged in the beating death of a 14-year-old Gettysburg boy has requested a court-appointed attorney.

Blake Hemminger, who is 19, made a brief appearance in circuit court at Faulkton.

He faces a second-degree manslaughter charge and aggravated assault charge for the death of Zach Glaesman.

Glaesman was severely beaten May 26 at a street dance in Orient. He died June 7 at a Sioux Falls hospital.

Hemminger is free on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled for another court appearance on Sept. 23.
