Three teenagers escaped with minor injuries and a fourth suffered a broken leg Monday after the pickup they were riding in rolled on a gravel road west of Rapid City.

Rapid City Police Sgt. Sue Fox said a 14-year-old boy was traveling south on a gravel cut-across road from Hidden Valley Road to St. Martins Drive when he took a curve too fast and rolled the 2002 Chevy pickup he was driving.

At least three of his four passengers were riding in the bed of the pickup, Fox said. All were thrown clear of the vehicle.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. He was cited for reckless driving. Police did not release his name because he is a juvenile.

Ethan Danley, 14, was taken to the hospital by ambulance with a broken leg. Carl Bochler, 14, Tony Dobbs, 15, and Aric Buhler, 15, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital by their parents, Fox said.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m. There was no school Monday in Rapid City.
