Gov. Mike Rounds asks that all flags be flown at half-staff Thursday from 8 a.m. until sunset in honor of Corporal Tanner James O'Leary, who died last week while serving in Afghanistan.

O'Leary, 23, of Eagle Butte was a combat infantryman with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. He died of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive devise that detonated when he was moving to an over-watch position as part of a reconnaissance element on Sunday, Dec. 9, in Musa Qal'eh, Afghanistan.

A march honoring O'Leary begins 9 a.m. MST at the Biegler Equipment parking lot in Timber Lake. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at the Timber Lake High School gymnasium, with burial and full military honors at the family's private cemetery.
