PIERRE - Millions of people tuned in to see images from this year's buffalo roundup at Custer State Park, the state Office of Tourism said in a release.

The tourism office broadcast the Oct. 1 roundup live via satellite to media nationwide.

"The satellite feed allows us to share this incredible experience and South Dakota's beautiful scenery with America," said Richard Benda, secretary of the Department of Tourism and State Development. "Displaying South Dakota's buffalo roundup and other attractions is a great benefit to the state's visitor industry, especially when we can reach so many people."

The state estimates 11,000 people attended the roundup.
