Two Rapid City Area Schools elementary principals have resigned after being placed on paid administrative leave for undisclosed reasons on Feb. 26, a school district spokeswoman confirmed Friday.
Rapid City Area Schools communications manager Katy Urban said parents at both Black Hawk Elementary School and Valley View Elementary had been informed of the resignations of Black Hawk principal Holly Yamada and Valley View principal Gregg McNabb.
The school district, citing privacy on personnel issues, has declined to release reasons for an investigation that led to the two being placed on paid administrative leave, or their subsequent resignations.
Neither action, Urban said earlier, involved any threat to student safety.
Two retired Rapid City area administrators who took over the respective schools will remain through the end of the school year, Urban said. Former Rapid City High School principal Deb Steele will remain at Black Hawk Elementary, while retired Valley View principal Wayne Rosby will stay at that school.
The school district will advertise for full-time replacements, she said.
