Police shot an intoxicated man with a Taser this weekend after he refused to leave the driver's seat of a vehicle that did not belong to him.
Justin Yellow Elk, 27, Rapid City, was arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday and is accused of tampering with a motor vehicle and obstructing police, said Tarah Heupel, Rapid City police spokeswoman.
The owner of the car, who did not know Yellow Elk, flagged down an officer driving by Sports Rock at 321 Seventh St. for help removing Yellow Elk from her car, Heupel said.
Yellow Elk struggled with the officer and refused to leave the vehicle, she said. The officer warned the man that he would be shot with a Taser if he continued to ignore his orders.
