Two Martin residents charged in federal court with illegally distributing drugs were recently sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken.

Claudia Jeanine Apple, 45, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for selling Ritalin pills near Oglala Lakota College and Bennett County High School in January 2012.

In another case, William Apple, 26, was sentenced to time served for distributing morphine near the Martin elementary school in January 2012.

Both cases were investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Task Force.
