SIOUX FALLS | Snow that fell in Sioux Falls on May Day broke a city record for the date.

The National Weather Service says 1.5 inches of snow fell in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, smashing the city's May 1 record of 0.1 inches set in 1967.

It was the first May snowfall in South Dakota's largest city in 37 years.
