Updated 4:24 p.m.:  One man is dead following a shooting on Riley Court this morning, according to Rapid City Police Chief Steve Allender.

Police have identified the man who died this morning as Dallas Two Bulls of Rapid City. 

Investigators believe this is a case of home invasion, according to a news release. The homeowner, identified as Thomas Wilson, 69, was beaten severely with a blunt object, before shooting Two Bulls several times.

The call came in at 4:43 a.m. Tuesday. The Rapid City Police Department responded to 1121 Riley Court. 

Police found a 21-year-old man injured by three gunshot wounds; he died at the scene, according  to police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel.

The Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate, and anticipate releasing additional information later today.

There does not appear to be an kind of a public safety risk connected with the incident, according to police spokeswoman Tarah Heupel.

The injured man, 69, was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital where he remains in serious condition. Detectives with the Rapid City Police Department and investigators with the Pennington County Sheriff's Office are interviewing him at this time. 

Officials are also interviewing a witness from the scene, according to Rapid City Police Department Lt. Tom Senesac.

How about a huge congratulations to the 69 year old citizen who was able to legally defend himself against a violent felon? Note to thugs..... Rapid City is not a place to practice your home invasion skills.
