Loved your state; hated your billboards
I recently traversed across your state from Pennsylvania and was disturbed by the large numbers of billboards I passed by on I-90.
What in heaven's name is so important in South Dakota that your beautiful state needs all those disgusting billboards? There weren't just a couple, but miles and mile of huge, ugly, and in most cases in disrepair billboards.
Living in Pennsylvania, I have to say that your state's beauty, from the plains in the east to the Black Hills in the west, certainly does not need this kind of advertising. What's with all the unsightly large number of billboards on the east of Rapid City near your military base there? And, then again, all along your Interstate from Rapid City west especially around railroads. Once we hit Wyoming, they all but vanished.
My wife and I could not get over why any state, particularly your beautiful state, could or would permit all these signs.
One or two Wall Drug signs are plenty. We did not stop at the Wall Drug because there were so many signs advertising it on the Interstate.
We'll be through your state again, but I think we'll take blinders along.
