Who has their eye on the Playhouse land? Or will someone benefit where they plan to move it? Something smells fishy!
The Governor and his cronies obviously have an unidentified agenda. They are aggressively attacking the Playhouse and doing everything in their mighty power to close its doors.
The people love the Playhouse. The site and atmosphere are one of the unique and inviting aspects of the playhouse. As one of our grandchildren stated,"this same play in any other setting would not be as good."
The governor is determined, wielding his power and our money to do what he wants.
If our state government really wanted to spend OUR money wisely, they would use it to improve the outbuildings instead of trying to destroy a one-of-a-kind building of the arts.
The Black Hills Playhouse is one of the oldest continuously operated summer stock theaters in America. Founded in 1946 by University of South Dakota drama professor Dr. Warren M. Lee, the Black Hills Playhouse and its dormitories for actors was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933.
People of South Dakota, let's stop this nonsense. Write, call, donate, march on Pierre steps, whatever it takes.
